GLISSEN
Glissen formed when Kate McKeon and Jimmy Behan met while studying Music & Media Technologies and found that they shared a passion for combining the acoustic and the electronic in music.
Live, Jimmy's laptop and various acoustic source sounds including bells, ethnic percussion and found sounds are fed into networked laptops for playback and processing, with Kate also operating the video controls to provide a visual accompaniment to every track.
Jimmy Behan released his debut album Days Are What We Live In on Elusive Recordings in 2004. Since then his work has featured on several compilations, including An Taobh Tuathail compiled by Cian O’Ciobhain. Jimmy is currently working on a second album, alongside a remix project involving a number of Irish artists. Kate McKeon has been writing and performing for several years now, while also devoting her time to various video and TV projects. Her video Carnival was featured at Darklight 2006, and her inter-media installation Voice Box was documented at the Prague Quadrennial 2007.
Glissen hope to complete the recording of their first album early next year.
