D-STYLES

Born in the Phillipines, D-Styles developed his unique take on the art of turntablism in esteemed company in San Francisco’s Bay Area in the 1990s, culminating in an invitation to join the world-famous Invisibl Skratch Piklz, alongside Q-bert and Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys.

Now a member of Hip hop group Third Sight, D-Styles’ approach is less fixated with technical showmanship than many of his contemporaries. Emphasising musical composition and style, his groundbreaking Phantazmagorea was the first album of its kind to be produced entirely from scratching.

Born in the Philippines, D-Styles developed his unique take on the art of turntablism in esteemed company in San Francisco's Bay Area in the 1990s, culminating in an invitation to join the world-famous Invisible Skratch Piklz, alongside Q-bert and Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys who regard him as the greatest scratch deejay of them all -  the Miles Davis of turntablism!  Currently residing in Los Angeles and member of Hip hop group Third Sight, D-Styles' approach is less fixated with technical showmanship than many of his contemporaries. Emphasizing musical composition and style, his groundbreaking Phantazmagorea was the first album of its kind to be produced entirely from scratching. This marathon night of Hip Hop turntablism trickery kicks off with an exclusive head to head between DJ Gem (Current Irish DMC Champion) and Savwar (Runner up), both battling to represent Ireland in the first ever IDA DJ Battle in Krakow, Poland on Dec 8th.  This will be followed by Galway's freshest turntable band 'Vince Mack Mahon' who will perform with a 4 turntable setup led by Dj Deviant. And you are in for a real treat tonight as D-Styles will return to the decks for a 2nd performance this time with Dublin's very own Dj Tu-ki for a club set, so expect an eclectic mix with some of the best cuts and scratches interwoven with the best music in town.
