Lakker

Lakker are Ian McDonnell and Dara Smith who make everything from abstract glitchiness to rampaging gabba using only a couple of laptops, the occasional microphone and their considerable musical smarts. They have been mainstays on the Irish electronic music scene since their inception in 2003. Described in the Journal of Music in Ireland (JMI) as “one of the best electronic acts in Ireland”, their output has ranged from electro-acoustic soundscape pieces to mashed-up death-metal-sampling breakcore: a diversity reflected in their releases to date on labels such as Risc, Go Away, AlphabetSet and !Kaboogie. Their debut album ’Ruido’ was a clear example of the creativity and variety going on in the Lakker camp. Dublin is better off for having them back on the live scene once again.

Manus Goan
Absolutely exploding into the live scene recently, Manus Goan has instatly won over an army of Dublin gig-goers with his brand of TechnoCrunkWonkStep that is guaranteed to get dancefloors moving. His recent set before Kid606 at !Kaboogie went down a storm, and with new material ready to be debuted and releases on the cards, he is certainly one to watch.

ForceFed
ForceFed is a duo comprising of Dublin producers and djs, A-Force and Bluefood. Both had separately released on AlphabetSet and !Kaboogie, and earlier this year they joined forces, playing their first gig in a sweaty underground cavern in Italy. Expect dubbed-out glitch-step that will get your head nodding and your feet moving.

Scurvy Lass
Niamh De Barra aka Scurvy Lass has been playing some jaw-dropping live shows this year. Performing using cello and live electronics, looping and layering her vocals and cello, she builds her pieces up from their bare components to a staggering peak. In her own words, ’stories with words and beats without drums’.
