Do you have a space for music?

New Spaces for Music
DEAF in collaboration with the model::niland

The Model Arts and Niland Gallery in Sligo has been experimenting with new spaces for live music throughout 2008. Currently closed for an extensive redevelopment the Model decided to use their lack of permanent venue to their advantage and began a series which saught to bring music to new spaces outsde of the usual concert or gig format. Unusual rooms, outdoor spaces, places where live music is not normally encountered, can all become new spaces for music and already this year a hotel bedroom, a working church, an outdoor basketball arena, castle ruins and stately houses have all been used to great effect.

DEAF are bringing the concept of new spaces to Dublin for the festival the year and are currently doing a call out for New Spaces to be used, Have you ever thought about live music at work? Do you have a boardroom or a factory or a workplace where you think a musical performance could take place? Do you have space in your school/community centre, restaurant or shop? Or do you have ideas for interesting outdoor spaces? Email karen@deafireland.com and let us know. No space too small and the more unlikely the better.
